All Arrangements by Sammy NesticoSammy Nestico is a big band legend in every sense of the word. Every big band musician in the world - whether amateur or professional - has played his charts at one time or another.
His spectacularly fertile collaboration as composer and arranger with the Count Basie Orchestra made him world famous: between 1968 and 1984 ten albums showcasing his masterpieces (tunes such as “Basie Straight Ahead,” “Hay Burner,” or “Magic Flea" ) were recorded, four of which gained Grammy Awards.
The enormous enthusiastic response (from critics and fans alike) to the first collaboration and the immensely productive positive musical and personal chemistry made it in enevitable for Sammy Nestico and the SWR Big Band to work together again in 2005.
